Author Guidelines

Islamic Economic History and Thought Review invites authors to submit original, high-quality research manuscripts that align with the journal’s focus on Islamic economic history and thought. Please follow the guidelines below to ensure a smooth submission process.

1. General Submission Requirements

  • Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • Manuscripts should be written in English and formatted according to the guidelines specified below.
  • Authors must provide a signed copyright transfer agreement (if applicable) at the time of submission.

2. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should be structured as follows:

  1. Title Page

    • Title of the manuscript (should be concise, clear, and descriptive).
    • Full names of all authors, including academic titles and affiliations.
    • Corresponding author’s contact details (email, phone number, mailing address).
    • ORCID ID (if available).
  2. Abstract

    • A concise summary of the manuscript (150-250 words).
    • It should briefly outline the purpose, methods, key findings, and significance of the research.
    • Keywords (3-5 words) should be included after the abstract.
  3. Main Text

    • Introduction: Introduce the topic, research question, and objectives. Provide necessary background and highlight the significance of the research in the context of Islamic economic history and thought.
    • Literature Review: A critical review of existing literature related to the study topic.
    • Methodology: Detail the research design, data collection, and analysis methods.
    • Results and Discussion: Present and discuss the main findings of the research, contextualized within the broader field.
    • Conclusion: Summarize the key findings, implications, and potential areas for future research.
  4. References

    • All citations should follow APA style (7th edition).
    • In-text citations should be formatted as: (Author, Year).
    • The reference list should be arranged alphabetically by author’s surname.
    • Only include sources that were cited in the manuscript.
  5. Tables and Figures

    • Tables and figures should be placed within the manuscript after the references section.
    • Each table and figure should be numbered and titled (e.g., Table 1: Title of Table).
    • All tables and figures should be cited in the text.
  6. Appendices (if applicable)

    • Supplementary material, such as questionnaires, interview transcripts, or additional data, should be included in appendices.

3. Formatting Requirements

  • Font: Use Times New Roman, 12-point font.
  • Spacing: Double-space the entire manuscript, including the reference list and tables.
  • Margins: 1-inch (2.54 cm) margins on all sides.
  • Page Numbers: Number pages consecutively in the top right corner.
  • Length: Manuscripts should typically be between 5,000 and 8,000 words (including references, tables, and figures).

4. Submission Process

  • Manuscripts must be submitted via the journal's online submission system (or email, if specified).
  • Authors must ensure that their manuscript is formatted correctly before submitting.
  • Submissions will undergo double-blind peer review, and authors are required to make revisions based on reviewers’ feedback.

5. Ethical Considerations

  • Authors must adhere to ethical standards in research, including ensuring the accuracy of data, proper citation of sources, and avoiding plagiarism.
  • Any conflicts of interest should be disclosed at the time of submission.
  • Authors must ensure that all research involving human participants adheres to ethical guidelines and obtain necessary approvals (e.g., Institutional Review Board, ethical committee).

6. Copyright and License

7. Article Processing Charge (APC)

8. Peer Review Process
